Now it’s April. The weather is getting warmer, and flowers are coming into bloom. We wish all readers good health and all children a happy children’s day.

This issue covers several items: a brief introduction to the Millennium Cohort Study (MCS), a highlight of some interesting KIT findings, and a short profile of Dr. Shu-Hui Hsieh, an Associate Research Fellow of the Center for Survey Research, RCHSS, Academia Sinica. Millennium Cohort Study (MCS)

The Centre for Longitudinal Studies of UCL (University College London) is home to four national longitudinal cohort studies, and the Millennium Cohort Study (MCS), the most recent cohort study in Britain, is one of them. Funded by the Economic and Social Research Council, MCS follows the lives of around 19,000 young children born in the UK in 2000-02. The first survey started when the cohort members were nine months old. Since then, six MCS sweeps have been completed when the members were at the age of 3, 5, 7, 11, 14, and 17. Information related to the participant’s physical, social-emotional, cognitive and behavioral development over time, economic circumstances, parenting, relationships, and family life has been collected. About Dr. Shu-Hui Hsieh

Dr. Shu-Hui Hsieh is an Associate Research Fellow of the Center for Survey Research, RCHSS, Academia Sinica. Her academic expertise lies in survey design and missing data analysis. She is involved in the KIT project as a co-principal investigator giving professional advice on sampling design, substitute sampling, and weighting. With her assistance, the KIT project is able to donate high quality data sets to the Survey Research Data Archive (SRDA), Academia Sinica.
