Goals

The KIT project (Kids in Taiwan: National Longitudinal Study of Child Development and Care) is a long-term study focusing on children in Taiwan. The study is designed to create a complete database that collects longitudinal information of child development. As a pioneering initiative, the project has four major goals:

• 1. To collect information about children’s health, cognition, language, social-emotional development, physical/motor development, families and child care experiences, and the impacts that child care experiences have on children over time;
• 2. To make comparisons with the results of similar studies conducted in other countries in order to examine how children in Taiwan differ from foreign children in terms of development in childhood and child care experiences;
• 3. To inform policies related to children’s health, welfare, family, child care, and early intervention/prevention strategies;
• 4. To share data with more users by gradually releasing information collected by the project.
